Sookang Kim: 1997-2006

Sookang Kims' photographs capture a single moment compressing material existence into condensed time to reveal their intrinsic order from the moment where their existence collapses space and time.

Through her studies in still life, small and simple subjects are recorded in gum bichromate prints, an early form of photograph printing. The method, which requires the developer to tediously repeat a process multiple times to apply color and form to a single picture, also becomes a process with which the author comprehends and unveils the order within the object.

Handsomely divided into chapters, this title includes five bodies of work by the artist from 1997-2006, including Trivial Stories, Being, In my Hand, Bojagi & White Vessel.
