December 6 - 8, 2019
Pamela Singhs's self-portraits in Lutholim, Goa will be on view in the third edition of the GoaPhoto International Photography Festival. The 2019 edition has been curated by Akshay Mahajan and Lola Mac Dougall and will be held in the village of Aldona (Nort Goa). From their site: "... Aldona... boasts many remarkable examples of Goan heritage architecture. Because many of these homes continue to be lived in and used as residences, the project will propose an innovative approach to working with “living heritage." One of the themes explored is "The Private / The Domestic;" the festival venues lend themselves to a type of photography which is private or which makes reference to issues of domesticity... Pamela Singh’s self-portraits taken in the village of Lutholim are the closest we have to Francesca Woodman in India, both photographers sharing a confidence in the expressive capabilities of their own bodies."
